May 5, 1939 — Sept. 2, 2020
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — Otha Lee Green, 81, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020.
He was born May 5, 1939, in Spring Hope.
Otha is survived by daughters, Cynthia Alloway and Patty Schardein; son, James Green; two grandsons, Andrew Schardein and Benjamin Alloway; two granddaughters, Hannah Brannan and Bernadette Hill; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Eric Brannan; brother, Alfred Green; sister, Esther Ruth Joyner; and special family member, Cosette Flowers.
Otha served four years in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Korea and was honorably discharged. He also worked as a manager for a retail chain, and later as a manager for a mortgage company. After retirement, he began a vending business which he was still operating at the time of his passing. By far, however, his purpose and joy in life was his marriage to his wife of 60 years. During her very long health struggles, he lovingly and selflessly cared for his beloved Nancy for 40 years until her passing in July 2020. He set an example of faith, family, patriotism and sacrificial love that left a legacy that will last for generations.
The family will hold a private memorial ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27 CST.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to beloved missionaries Fred and Debby Davis. Checks can be addressed to Valley Christian Assembly, c/o F&D Davis, 132 Prospect Ave., Salamanca, NY 14779 - memo line Davis Missions.
