ROCKY MOUNT — Nash UNC Health Care has named Kathleen Fleming as the Nash UNC Health Care Foundation’s new director.
“I am pleased to announce Kathleen Fleming as the director of the Nash UNC Health Care Foundation. Kathleen has demonstrated great vision and leadership of the foundation following the retirement of Stacy Jesso in June,” said Dr. L Lee Isley, president and CEO of Nash UNC Health Care.
Fleming has been with the foundation for nearly two years and previously held the position of development officer before being promoted to director. Prior to working at the Foundation, Fleming held positions with the American Heart Association, Sylvan Heights Bird Park and the American Cancer Society.
“I am excited to continue my work with the foundation in this new position,” said Fleming. “I look forward to engaging the community with the foundation’s mission to strengthen hospital services and improve the health of our community.”
Fleming said the foundation will focus on growing and supporting its cancer fund, as well as addressing social determinants of health in the community, specifically food insecurity.
“After reviewing the social factors that most affect health in our community, we found food insecurity to be a prominent one,” said Fleming. “We are currently working with our board and the hospital on different ways we can address that for our community, starting with a fundraiser at the beginning of spring to begin supporting our initiatives around the issue.”
The Nash UNC Health Care Foundation has designated funds for cancer services, breast care, cardiopulmonary rehab, the emergency department, heart center, hospice and palliative care, orthopedics, rehab services, women’s center and an annual fund that supports the areas of greatest need.
