MIDDLESEX — A major dentist office chain is expected to be cleaning teeth and filling cavities by February.

Mayor Lu Harvey Lewis said the town is working closely with Lane and Associates to ready the municipal-owned building the dental practice is renting.

“Working together is speeding up the process,” Lewis said at the most recent town board meeting. “I’d love to say the first of February, but that’s going to take some work. It might be the middle of February.”

Not much needs to be done inside the building located at 11180 E. Finch St.

Painting is needed and a breakroom has to be relocated, which will require some plumbing.

“They’ve done this a bunch of times,” Lewis said. “They know what they want.”

Meanwhile, Lane is looking for local customers.

Potential patients interested in learning more about the dental practice’s services can visit the dentist’s website at https://lanedds.com, said Kaitlin Painter, the company’s digital marketing and content manager.

Since 1980, Don Lane has opened more than 40 dentist offices in North Carolina, mostly in small towns. Every office he’s opened is still in operation with the chain being the largest in the state.

Lane will pay $4,025 a month for 10 years for the Middlesex office with an option to purchase the property after that.
