Health forum set for Saturday

ROCKY MOUNT — The Wilson-Rocky Mount-Tarboro chapter of The Links will sponsor a health forum 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Opportunities Industrializaton Center, 300 N. Grace St., with radiologist Dr. Erica Griffin, cancer survivors Sandra Farmer and Hope Freeman and cardiologist Dr. Sanjay Cherukuri serving as guest speakers.

Breast cancer, heart disease, stroke and blood pressure screenings will be available. Refreshments will be served. Men and women of all ages are welcome.

Church plans Relay for Life fundraiser

NASHVILLE — Sandy Cross United Methodist Church’s “Fruit of the Spirit” Relay for Life team will have a sausage, egg and pancake supper fundraiser from 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the 3725 Sandy Cross Road church. The cost is $7 for all you can eat and diners will pay at the door. Takeout will be available. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Spaulding alumni plan Valentine’s dance

Speaker to discuss lack of state budget

ROCKY MOUNT — The League of Women Voters Twin Counties will present a program on the effects of not having an approved state budget featuring Suzy Khachaturyan of the North Carolina Justice Center at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Unitarian Fellowship Center, 516 N. Grace St.

Democrats plan precinct meeting

SPRING HOPE — The Nash County Democratic Party’s Spring Hope Precinct No. P06A will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 116 N. Old Louisburg Road. All Democrats are encouraged to attend. Voter registration forms will be available to those not registered.
