County plans rabies vaccination clinic

NASHVILLE — Nash County Animal Control will provide low-cost rabies vaccinations for dogs, cats and ferrets from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the Nash County Animal Shelter, 951 N. First St. Extension.

Pets must be on a leash or in separate carriers. Owners are asked to use their best judgment to determine whether pets need to be muzzled or kept at a distance from other animals. There is no limit on the number of pets per family. Animal control staff will ask for each pet’s weight, age and breed before issuing a vaccine certificate and tag. The cost is $5 per pet, payable in cash only.

Staff will provide the one-year rabies vaccines. After receiving the one-year vaccination, pets are eligible for a three-year vaccination next year. Those are available from participating veterinarians with proof of current one-year vaccinations.

For questions about the rabies vaccination clinic, call Nash County Animal Control Services at 252-459-9855.
