MIDDLESEX — Town commissioners will hold a special meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, to teleconference with a U.S. Department of Agriculture representative regarding an award offer for a grant the town has sought.
Middlesex officials applied for a USDA grant to purchase four new generators for sewer lift stations, a Massey Ferguson compact tractor with a 60-inch mower and a public works truck. Commissioners will meet at the town office, 10232 S. Nash St. The meeting is open to the public.
Dems’ executive committee to meet
NASHVILLE — The Nash County Democratic Party will hold a virtual executive committee meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 28.
All registered Democrats are invited to call in for the meeting. Only officers, SEC members, precinct chairs, vice chairs and elected officials may vote on party business. To register for the meeting, call 252-955-0036.
License plate agency remains open
SPRING HOPE — North Carolina drivers who need to renew their license plates can still do so in person at the Spring Hope License Plate Agency, 123 S. Ash St., which remains open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
All COVID-19 requirements are strictly observed and the agency welcomes customers from surrounding counties and towns. The license plate agency, which is operated by the Spring Hope Area Chamber of Commerce, can also issue fishing and hunting licenses as well as boat registrations.
In order to serve walk-in customers, employees are currently unable to accept phone calls. Arrival prior to 4 p.m. is necessary for purposes other than license plate renewal.
