School to hold veterans’ lunch

SPRING HOPE — A Veterans Day lunch is planned from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 at Spring Hope Elementary School, 401 McLean St. All veterans are invited to attend free of charge. Organizers ask attendees to RSVP by calling the school at 252-451-8530 to ensure enough food is available.

Bailey chamber hosting blood drive

BAILEY — The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Bailey Chamber of Commerce, 6270 Main St.

Church offers free sweet potatoes

MIDDLESEX — Samaria Baptist Church, 3752 Samaria Church Lane at the intersection of N.C. 97 and N.C. 231, is offering free sweet potatoes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Organizers ask that recipients bring their own buckets or containers.

Veterans’ breakfast planned

SPRING HOPE — Veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families are invited to attend a veterans’ breakfast and recognition ceremony planned for 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at Floods Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church, 5149 N.C. 97 W. at the crossroads of N.C. 97 and N.C. 581.

Veterans Day ceremony scheduled

ROCKY MOUNT — The Joint Veterans Committee of Nash and Edgecombe Counties will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11 at Jack Laughery Park. The Nash Central High School Naval Junior ROTC unit will perform the ceremonial honors and a rifle salute to all fallen veterans.

Church holding collard sale

SPRING HOPE — Peachtree Baptist Church, 3523 N.C. 581 N., will hold its annual collard sale from 3-6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.

Collards are seasoned and cooked to order. The cost is $8 per quart. Pickup dates are Nov. 11, 13, 15, 18, 20 and 22. Patrons can call the church at 252-478-4418 by Friday, Nov. 8 to place an order.

Sheriff to host ‘Coffee and Conversation’

ROCKY MOUNT — Nash County residents are invited to attend Coffee and Conversation with Sheriff Keith Stone from 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Reservoir Country Store, 5696 Bend of the River Road.
