ROCKY MOUNT — Two local men recently taken into custody in New Jersey have been extradited to North Carolina to stand trial for murder.

Rashawn Grant, 31, and Tyrone Martin, 21, face charges of first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury in the Sept. 1, 2019, homicide of 22-year-old Namir Davis.

Grant and Martin were arrested in Newark, New Jersey, and returned to Edgecombe County where they are being held without bond.

Davis died after being shot on the 100 block of St. Francis Court. Anthony Horne Jr. also received injuries during the incident.
