SPRING HOPE —Donna Lloyd Mullen, 69 passed away on Jan. 13, 2019. A celebration of her life will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Cornerstone Funeral Home, Nashville. A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
Donna was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Louis E. “Jack” Lloyd and Dolores P. Lloyd.
She graduated from Bunn High School and obtained her B.S. in education from East Carolina University. It was at ECU she met and later married her husband and lifelong love, Reg.
Donna retired after more than 30 years as a Wake County Public Schools teacher at Zebulon Elementary. She loved teaching and she spent her life enriching the lives of children. The close friendships she made with other teachers during her years of teaching at Zebulon Elementary have been a source of joy and laughter and carried her through hard times like the illness and loss of her beloved Reg last year.
Donna loved being involved in her community, helping with Scouts and various band and sports activities her boys participated in while they were growing up. She enjoyed keeping the front window of R.O. Mullen updated with beautiful scenes and interesting items that drew the eyes of passersby to the store. Donna was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Spring Hope.
Donna was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Reginald O. “Reg” Mullen Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Reginald “Reggie” Mullen III (Jessica) and Dr. James E. “Jim” Mullen (Jessica); and grandchildren, Rhett and Blythe Mullen and Eli and Reese Mullen.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Spring Hope or to the SPCA.
Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1052 S. First St., Nashville, is honored to be caring for the family. Words of comfort may be shared at www.cornerstonefuneralhomeandcremations.com.
